Abstract

|
Antiarrhythmia drugs, previously the mainstay therapy for tachyarrhythmias, have been replaced by catheter ablation. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators are the standard therapy for patients with serious ventricular arrhythmias in the presence of structural heart disease. However, in many cases, pharmacological therapy still plays a major supporting role in the treatment of arrhythmias. This review summarizes the characteristics of and precautions for antiarrhythmia drugs.
